Athletics

Our athletics program places value in Christian fellowship, teamwork, and sportsmanship above all else. Students in 5th through 8th grade are eligible for any team sport. Fourth-grade students may also be allowed to participate in certain sports on a year-to-year and sport-to-sport basis. Participation in sports will involve some travel to different venues around Central Illinois.

Some of the sports your child could participate in, include:

Cross Country

Students are trained to increase their physical endurance and speed. They might even discover a love of running that lasts a lifetime. The cross-country season typically begins in early August and continues through October.

Basketball

Basketball at St. John is all about encouraging teamwork, as well as teaching the skills necessary to play the game competitively. Students of all experience levels and abilities are welcome to give it a try.

Volleyball

Our volleyball program focuses on helping players develop fundamental skills in addition to learning the various positions and rules of the game. Teaching effective communication between teammates is also big part of the coaching.

Track and Field

Track and field competition gives students a multitude of ways to challenge themselves and stretch their abilities. Whatever type of event they choose, be it sprinting, jumping, running, or throwing, St. John coaches will teach the skills and help with individual goal-setting.
